The Nanny

Many middle-class families employed a nanny to care for their children. This young lady has taken her charge to a park in a rather fancy perambulator. This particular type of pram was known as a bassinet. They don’t seem to be having much fun but maybe that wasn’t part of a Victorian nanny’s job description.
