In our archive, we have thousands of street scenes with Victorians doing then what we do now …. shopping, working, travelling on public transport etc. but it’s always fascinating to see a close-up view. This is Frome in Somerset, ‘though it could be any market town in England. The ladies fashions have changed, of course, but the shopkeepers’ means of pulling in customers haven’t, with tempting pavement displays and ‘special offer’ advertising. Does this street in Frome, if it exists, still have this charm?
