This RAF recruitment poster probably dates from 1919 and includes an image of Airship R34. Dirigibles were used during the First World War for reconnaissance and were filled with hydrogen which was highly flammable and led to some serious accidents. R34 was the first airship to fly across the Atlantic from east to west and did so in 1919 with a crew of eight officers, twenty-two men, one stowaway (presumably human), two pigeons and a kitten.
