This is Clitheroe Railway Station in Lancashire. The town is in the glorious Ribble Valley and the station is still in use. Photographs of railway stations taken in the 1890s usually show ranks of horse-cabs waiting for the next train to disgorge its passengers but this is different. Each cart contains milk churns so, whereas today, milk is collected from farms in tankers, these farmers have brought their produce to load onto a train to sell in Blackburn or Manchester.
